Seeking highly qualified editors
We invite applications from editorial professionals who meet our high standards.
Editor/proofreader qualifications
- At least a master’s degree
- At least five years of professional editing experience
- Superior English language skills, including U.S. conventions of spelling, punctuation, and grammar
- Experience with one or more of the major published style manuals (e.g., AP, APA, Chicago)
- Keen attention to detail
- Ability to quickly learn and follow any style sheet
- Excellent editorial instincts—when and how to check facts, how to bring out meaning at the sentence level, what items need particular attention in a post-layout proofread, and so on
